I only say that knowing that he regularly made light of his injuries. I was a huge James Hunt fan and saw Lauda as the enemy,I remember watching the Japanese Grand Prix, very few were on telly then and this was on really early in the morning. Couldn’t believe Hunt had won, thought Lauda was a coward. To later really learn what he went through and his bravery to get back in a car 40 days after being read his last rites was incredible. He always came across as an intelligent passionate chap with a rye sense of humour. The film Rush incorrectly depicted a bad friendship between Lauda and Hunt, which is a shame, they were great friends albeit with completely different outlooks on racing and life. What a hero.
