That's pretty much the long and short of it thought, yes,

Neither break any criminal laws, both attempt to gain an advantage over the opposition.

Either you think it's fair to do anything legal to put yourself at an advantage, or not.

I think it's fair, ergo, it's fine to paint the walls pink, it's also fine to stand somewhere public (being public and all) to watch players training. If clubs don't like it, take measures.
