It’s almost a variation of the classic sweeper system

Used to be a ball playing centre back who could move into midfield with possession.

I think hoddle and gullit both played there late in careers

5-3-2 without the ball became 442 with it

I think we’re doing it more

5-2-3-1 becoming 2-3-5-1
