I don't *need* to - I'm sad enough I can remember quite a lot about it - I *want* to :-)

I thought "less" because I was referring to an amount of time rather than necessarily a number of months: if the context was "how many months to wait" then I think "fewer" would be right.

However I'm open to correction!
