Fur coat, no knickers

That was an answer which Barry Hearn once gave to me in cross examination. I’ve forgotten the context save that it was his assessment of a putative commercial partner - “They were all fur coat and no knickers”, he said. The rather formal judge was baffled by this answer and there then had to be a rather laborious explanation. I think he wished he hadn’t said it by the end of the trial.
