yeah, it's hair tearing when it doesn't all play nice

being generous, it's a snarl up between the sim and the phone, so the frustration is that if you ask either side they'll only have half the fix.

Dropping into a competent phone repair shop should get it sorted quite rapidly - if the APN stuff is set right (and you're getting reception, just no data) - check the phone is set to the right network under the separate menu, sometimes it gets misaligned.
