Those schemes are deliberate attempts to avoid tax you most definitely do owe.

I'm talking about cases like Arctic Systems (look it up). Sheer, unwarranted, inexcusable bullying. I've seen it over IR35 as well. Yes there are most certainly people who are, or should be, well inside IR35 who take the piss and they should be taken to the cleaners. HMRC's apparent view that there is no such thing as a legitimately self-employed person is arrant nonsense, as their own tribunals have confirmed quite a lot of times.
