Refereeing is really difficult,

People seem to think it’s easy but is not. I’ve refereed a Under 11/12 match and I missed a foul. The thing is I didn’t see it, I was distracted and was attending to something else when the foul was committed. For the next 5 minutes all I could hear was coaches and parents slagging me off. It’s surprisingly easy to hear parents when they’re giving you abuse and it genuinely hurts. It then makes you think twice about having another go.

I try to never hurl abuse at a ref at Carrow Road even if they’re having a stinker.
