So will Madderz get his day-bew tonight? Personally I doubt it very much but fingers

crossed. I really see him as England's missing piece of the puzzle. Not saying that he will go on to become one of the best players England has ever seen, or even one of the best in the current squad (although I do think he has the talent for that), but he's the guy who can hold possession and distribute and we really missed that in the World Cup.

As I've said before, I think he could be our Modric. Again, I'm not suggesting he will be anywhere near as good as Modric but I just mean playing a similar role, and hopefully a little closer in ability to Modric than Simon Charlton was to Makelele....

If I were Southgate, I don't know what I would do. Two schools of thought there. First would be let the guys who lost to Croatia prove a point, perhaps with some tactical adjustments which he wishes now he had made for that game. Second, and probably what I would be more inclined to do, would be to bring in Maddison and maybe one or two others and see if they could be the difference between coming close and actually executing how he wants to play.

It's a great opportunity playing them so soon after the World Cup semi final.
