New structure is very much in-the-family isn't it

Healthy governance surely requires someone with both clout and an independent voice to ensure decisions are being made in the best interests of the club and its key stakeholders (yes that very much includes shareholders; but not exclusively). In other words, someone to challenge, ensure an absence of groupthink, hold people to account and so on.

I'm not saying this because I doubt for one second the genuine commitment to the club or the quality of those involved. It's just basic good practice (see UK code of corporate governance, inter alia).

At a very, very bare minimum I think this requires a senior independent director kind of character who should work with the Chair on governance-related matters.
