Goes in waves

I reckon.

Recently in all spheres of life there's been a dispiriting drift towards polarisation and lack of recognition of shades of grey.

Ironically, what this has actually done is not allow proper scrutiny of the positions taken as those positions are ones of dogma.

If views and positions can't shift (and if any position has to be balanced by an opposing view which is given equal weight however ludicrous) we're heading for a very, very sorry state of affairs indeed.

Good example of this is global warming and the previous singular focus on CO2 emissions. I'm a scientist and have been pointing out for two decades that such a simplistic approach is counterproductive. It led to the huge increase in diesel cars, which put out less co2, but far more complex hydrocarbons (many of which are carcinogenic).

Now we're putting all our eggs into electric cars. Some of this makes sense. Some of it doesn't. Having diesel engines with additive systems in many instances would be as useful in the short to medium term.

So to swing back round. I think the board is okay at the moment, but has a few vocal bods who have hijacked some stuff. I remember it being similar at the tail end of the Worthington era.

Anyway, too many words and it's probably all buck's doing anyway!
