It was reported as

£22million, rising to £24m depending on various add-ons.

Can't imagine the entire 2m being based on one England cap - I'd think the larger share might be appearance based, and maybe sliding scale for number of caps while at Leicester as well. So if we do get anything from the first cap, it wouldn't be massive I think.

And if it is, then Leicester were well and truly played because the World Cup showed that he was precisely the type of player we were missing (one who always wants the ball and can sit, hold possession and distribute in midfield), so for me he was going to get an England cap this year - I think it's normal that they try out promising talents soon after a major tournament because then they have time to either work them into the team if impressive or move on to other talents if they are not convinced.

If I'd been Leicester I'd have thought he's getting capped anyway, so I would negotiate the majority of add-ons as number of appearances, maybe goals, and perhaps league position which are worth far more money to them than him getting capped (unless they intend to sell him on after a year for hooge spondoolics)
