if what you're getting at is, do I agree with the proposition that there is a "push" for global, cultural and ethnic homogenisation, then the answer is no, I don't.

It was just a comment (arising out of the reference to what you "want" to believe) on the interesting question (I think it's interesting anyway) of the extent to which we "choose" our conclusions and beliefs, based on evidence and rational thought (a comforting but inaccurate thought) or hold them for other reasons (somewhat less comforting).

I wasn't trying to make some deep (or any other sort of) political point, or enter into the substance of your discussion.
