I’m not sure that’s what was meant.

I think the point he’s making is that liberalism and a liberal society has survived (for better or worse) despite attempts from extreme points of view to discredit and destabilise it. And free will, which libertarians claim as a central tenet, isn’t as free as they claim, he says.

That’s what piqued my interest. I don’t believe we do really have totally free will.
