There is some weird stat I remember reading along the lines of 50% of visitors never venture more than a few hundred yards from St Mark's Square. Or something.
So do a lot of wandering and it is amazing how quickly you can find beautiful streets in much more peaceful locations when so many 0f the main routes are jammed with pedestrians.
To get around more quickly get a three-four days pass for the vaparettos, which are the canal buses basically. Incredibly cheap, regular and you can see everything just as clearly as from a £100 f**king gondala.
If you want to see any art, the traditional stuff is incredibly catholic so depictions of the crucifixion can get a little tiresome after a while.
Try the Peggy Guggenheim Modern Art Museum - which we love and which houses some of the most important works by by the best modern artists of the 20th century.
Never, ever, ever buy any food or drink on St Marks Square. Ever.
