There is no extension to workload

All thh competitions are concurrent. It is driven by the desire to improve the Europa League by reducing the number of 'smaller' teams that take part in it.

Those smaller teams will be joined by 16 additional teams thus opening up European competition to more clubs.

Obviously, money is the main driver - but I actually think it is a good idea. The Europa League is a bit sexier these days and it makes sense to capitalise on that.
