I'm assuming its a private company?

I took them on at Luton airport recently.

In short, you need to initially appeal it through their appeal procedure and then when they refuse that (which they almost certainly will) in most cases you can appeal to the parking ombudsman or POPLA I think it is now called.

Once I did this, set out a long argument and it became clear to them i was going to take it all the way they dropped the claim immediately as clearly its not worth the hassle/cost for them going to court, they just work on the basis that most people will be panicked/bullied into paying the fine without appealing.

I'm a bit confused though as you say she had paid the right money whereas i had not paid anything but was done for stopping for 15 seconds on an access road to pass someone a passport. Your arguments may therefore be slightly different to those I put forward (and they may hold up their hands to the mistake) but if you do appeal it I can let you have a copy of the reps I made - there are also loads of threads on this sort of thing on the Martin Lewis money saving website.
