Part of Delia's reluctance to let go is the possibility that the next owner turns it all to s**t - and she will, of course, be held responsible.

The other thing is the delicate issue of death & taxes. The Tom-succession may just be a neat way of ensuring that a chunk of the club's value is not due to HMRC on their death. But I am just guessing here.
