The performance are the same people who usually harp on about Farke being clueless, and calling for us to replace him with a manager who would clearly get more out of this squad.
I think that’s bollocks. We have to buy cheap. That means they will often be gambles so they have to be really cheap, yet also have enough technical ability to play the style we want to play, which often means not cheap English lower league.
Our director of football and our manager have connections and knowledge of the German league so we use that for the cheapies. Now spreading out to other countries. Investing in our academy to try to educate there and reduce our reliance on foreign markets. Of course anybody coming out who really shines will then be sold but at least our average players will have sufficient knowsge and technique to keep the engine rolling while we bring in or develop the next playmaker
It’s not some anti-English idiocy which is happening. It’s an attempt at a long term fairly self sufficient program which will take some years to get rolling, even if the first team become successful in the short term, and the overseas buys are just a necessity at the moment.
And yeah. A bit of external money wouldn’t hurt.
