Oh, believe me, some people won't want to for that very reason. His style of

management seems to be (for want of a less w**ky term) the "empowerment" model. But contrary to popular belief, that doesn't mean that you can just do whatever you want how you want it and the boss won't give you any s**t. Quite the reverse. It means to work for him you have to take far more responsibility for your methods and results.

Some people (like me) absolutely love working like that and thrive in it, but others don't want the responsibility. They feel less stress if the boss tells them what to do and how to do it (micro management).

No doubt he will also use his "niceness" to effect at times as well. When he flies off the handle (which he will do consciously when he feels the need) it has a far greater effect than from a manager who is permanently in the "hairdryer" mode (I'm thinking Allardyce, Warnock etc)
