Why did we play three at the back at the end of last season

with nothing to play for, if the plan was to switch to four at the back this season? Seems like we lost a few months where we could have been honing and perfecting the system - especially considering three of the defenders, plus the holding midfielder, are still first choice.

Isn't that exactly the kind of advantage that you should be getting by employing a 'philosophy' driven DoF and coach? Instead, it seems like we just wasted all of last year, when we had some really talented players, by claiming it was a transitional year. Before almost ripping up the plan again at the start of this season.

Overall, not a bad start so far though, we've played well at times. And at least look like we have goals in us. The squad just isn't good enough to steam roller teams, or go through games without making individual errors though. And the concern is that if we go on a long run without a win, that Farke goes back to three at the back, defensive possession stuff - but without the get out of jail, creating something out of nothing, that Maddison could provide.
