The thing we got wrong with AN was not getting rid of him earlier, ie. after the Brighton game. I've got tons of time for him, he's a good manager, but he clearly has his limits. We wasted 4-5 months of our best (really, only) chance to go back up by keeping him for no good reason.
Managing this club is clearly tough. Both Neil and Hughton have gone on to do well elsewhere. But as with Farke, neither knew their own minds, neither were tough enough. Neil's tactical confusion in 15/16 had its parallels in Hughton's two years previously. And AN never struck me as someone, shall we say, ahead of his time in modern training methods and sports science. More like: he was behind it, so we were unfit.
