I think there has been a lot of progress

We have a better squad this season overall than we did last season.

My concern is that the Farke approach to football simply doesn’t work in the championship.

There’s a very clear and obvious recipe for championship success and it doesn’t involve dominating possession. It’s all about being direct, positive and purposeful. When i say direct, I don’t mean hoofing it, I mean going at teams and making them uncomfortable, exactly as we played under lambert really.

In my opinion trying to dominate possession leads to a passive approach across the board that lacks urgency. I think it’s very difficult for players to switch from being so measured on the ball to then being urgent and aggressive when attacking / defending.

Perhaps more worrying is that farke can’t see that this style doesn’t work in the championship. In almost every game I’ve watched in the last two seasons our farting about at the back has at some point given the opposition real hope of scoring. Even terrible teams get a sniff just by exerting some mild pressure on our back line.

I think our squad is actually reasonably decent. Certainly a top 12 squad. I don’t even think Farke’s approach requires a massive change - it just requires an injection of urgency and a canning of the pointless possession at all costs approach.

Ps I didn’t watch the game today, so my comments could be irrelevant.
