At the start of the season, the FA announced that finishing 4th would qualify you for the champions league qualifiers. Just like finishing 6th in the fizzy league gets you in the play-offs.

Everyone knew that was the situation this season. Including Liverpool. If they don't manage to finish 4th, then they don't qualify. You can't start changing the rules at the end of the season.
