The thing that ignores is that really we struggled in his first season

Not his fault, we were always going to as soon as Lambert left, and actually I think he did brilliantly to keep us up. But it was a tough season all in all.

His second season was disappointing because we opened up the purse strings having paid off debt and wasted cash. We didn't improve as a consequence of the signings.

He wasn't bad for us, but the quality of football wasn't great and that kind of pragmatic style is only acceptable to fans when it delivers results; it didn't.
