This sounds like I’m being v negative

That’s not the case, I just feel we’re in for a similar season to last year with a fair bit of defensive inconsistency.

Doesn’t seem to me from what I’ve seen so far that we’ve really dealt with the main issues that we had last season - ie coming up with a balance between defence and attack that works. I think we’ll be ok for 11th - 13th in the league as we look better offensively. Pukki and Rhodes offer a lot more than Nelson, even Srbeny has been looking good, and Hernandez and Marshall really offer a threat (particularly the former) in a way Murphy didn’t really for the vast majority of last season (although partly because Nelson was never in the box to receive cut backs).

However, had Rhodes stuck that pen away and tettey / krul not done a balls up, we might well have won comfortably, who knows?

I sometimes feel that the patient attacking approach leaves us playing a little bit passively in all aspects of our game and we then lack the intensity required when defending. Might just be me imagining things.

My overriding emotion is one of frustration as WBA were there for the taking and did bugger all to earn the win.
