It's not quite what you asked, but it shows that relative to people in other European countries, Greeks are not particularly well off. Hence I guess fewer of them will have the spare cash to consider jetting off to other countries where living is much more expensive than they're used to.
One other thought on why you don't see many Greek tourists. They're a country of only 11m people, so there aren't that many of them. You see a lot of Chinese people in London, and Indians, but there are 1.4 and 1.3 billion of those. So much more likely to see them knocking about.
So to recap my key findings. You don't see many Greek tourists because:
- they're are only 11 million of them in the first place.
- where they live is lovely so they're likely to choose to stay at home.
- they're one of the poorer nations in Europe, so holidaying abroad is relatively more expensive for them.
