Fourteen! Less, I have to admit than HofMFC who have signed 20 but they started with only 10 pros and they have got Vlad the Mad. We are supposed to be sensible and prudent.
Of the 14, 8 are permanent; Louis-Jean, Jarrett, Thorne, Earnshaw,Hughes, Etuhu, Colin and Robinson. The total cost of this assemlage is ?4.3 million assuming we paid ?3mill for Earnshaw. Of the 8 signings, only Earnshaw and Hughes might be called regulars and just about no-one in the world apart from Mr. Worthington would contemplate calling Hughes a "regular". Earnshaw, although undoubtedly a good player of his type was signed, it would appear, to replace Ashton, but infact he's replaced McVeigh, who had scored 6 goals in his previous 9 games and now gets to come on for 15 minutes or so, usually to replace Johansem, who presumably was signed as a striker but now plays "sort of" on the right wing.
I thought it was worth laying this out, because what we can see is that of the 8 signings, only one is any good and he's been brought here on a false premise.
If you worked for an organisation and spent ?4.3 million on unnecessary junk which brought your employer into grave difficulties, do you imagine that said employer would say that you were "the man/woman for the job".? I thik you would be shown the door and probably would find it quite difficult to find any other gainful employment in the same field.
And that says nothing about your other duties; o entertain, to be tactically aware, to be prepared and also to commune intelligently with the local media.
After the deluge I heard the Worthless on explain to Chris Goreha that the answer was simple "more mnd more hard work".
I'll tell you what's hard work. Digging holes and filling them in again is hard work. But it gets you nowhere. Wheras hard thinking...... Now THAT would be different.
