7 home grown players in a game day squad, 1 club developed player, but not clear on whether that is in addition to or part of the 7. (Anybody know ?)
The club developed player is never a problem as worst case scenario you'd chuck a kid on the bench. we are a bit tight on the others I think. It feels like it wouldn't affect the strength of the starting line-up but we might have to weaken the bench for it at times.
It seems Football League of Wales counts as affiliated with the EFL, but Scottish league does not. Guessing that the ones in or around the team sheet normally would be Lewis (club developed), Rhodes, Hanley, Marshall and Matthews (club developed), but any of those can be rested or dropped, and even if they were all in, we would have to have two or three (depending on the rule) of the following in the squad for any given game (with the unlikely ones in brackets):
Husband, Jones, Raggett, Godfrey, Cantwell, (Thompson, Phillips, Jarvis, Morris).
That might well restrict our options from the bench after an injury or two to the starting homegrown players and it really will limit the chances of the foreign players who have slipped down the pecking order (Stiepermann, Pinto, Oliveira). I wouldn't be surprised to see us get rid of some of those and bring in some English depth.
It's a concern.
