Been to that there Kosovan Polje where the Ottoman invaders defeated the Serbs in 1389 and later where Milosovic famously rallied the Serb nation which was the pre-cursor to war in Yugoslavia and the break up thereof. It also has historical importance to the Serbs as they were defeated there again in WW1 and they consider it to be the birthplace of Serbia. It's a fascinating study for me as it has a long history and as the war was so recent and both in and part of my lifetime it makes it so tangible. There's unfinished business there as well, a lot of Kosovan fellers went off to fight for IS in Syria and Iraq and have now returned back home so it would be no surprise if it all revved up again.
