A fair amount of complexities between all sorts in that entire area sadly. So when I used

the word nationalist in conjunction with the former Yugoslavia, you’d understand what I meant.

Have to say though that the strongest nationalism I’ve ever experienced in a consistent level was probably Serbia. Opened my eyes. And I’ve never spent one hundredth if the time around there that you have. But it’s also the same with most of the Serbs I know outside Serbia. Liberal or authoritarian, right or left in leaning, almost all nationalist to some degree. That could be in quite an admirable way as well as the more nefarious sort.

Bloody tinderbox if you ask me.
