Did we need VAR for that

the linesman saw it but kept his flag down as instructed , all he had to do was raise it when the goal was scored

Whats going to happen is what is happening in cricket where you rarely see a umpire give a run out , in football linesmen will give up giving offside at free kicks and it will go to VAR every time when its available
