Any sparks/DIY gurus able to help a confuddled old man please

The isolator switch thingy for the shower in our bathroom has been on the blink for ages and I finally got a new one for a fiver out of Homebase.

The "hard" part - turn off at the consumer unit, take old switch out, scrub off the oxidised bits on one of the neutral wires (looked like it had poor contact which is probably why the old switch went spong in the first place), connect power from the consumer unit and input lines to shower, earth it all up, turn power back on to test, yes it all works as it should - I did without issue.

The "really trivial" part - get the new switch up into the box so it stays flush with the ceiling - I can't do. I think the screws aren't reaching the holes in the box thing they need to screw into.

I think this is because the new switch has a bit by its LED which is slightly proud of the housing, unlike the old switch, on the side where the switch and box meet (if that makes sense).

Do I:

a) try to source longer screws. Tighten it all up as best I can and cross my fingers

b) take the Mary option (though I'm quite certain there isn't one this time around)

c) chip a bit of plastic off the box somehow to try and make it fit (do I then have to worry about steam getting inside the unit?)

d) just shove it all back up, secure with gaffer tape and paint over it, always remembering that operating the pull cord will forever be a two-hand task after that (because just pulling on it will bring the whole lot down again)

e) something else entirely?

Thanks awfully for any help.
