I had an old filling which had developed decay under it. They took it out, root canal then happened (2 hours of drilling and filling, 2 injections as halfway through the initial one was wearing off). Nice hefty bill.
Then a few months later the root canal filling worked loose and fell out when I was eating a biscuit. Crunch. A big lump of very hard stuff in my mouth when I was chewing. I guess I was lucky no more damage was done.
So, the “emergency” appointment happened, several days later, during which time the base of the tooth, which was lovely and sharp, had managed to rub and cut my tongue and inside cheek up nicely, not to mention fill up with food a treat. “I’m afraid it’s cracked, we can’t put another root canal in, I’ll have to break it and pull it out”...
All money well spent for a few months of not having a gap in my molars. Now I have the gap and it’s fine.
For now.
