My brother (former soldier) was cared for by the family of Jim a convicted IRA arms dealer during his final weeks in Ireland. My bruv was dating the sister of the IRA mans wife (he always knew how to live dangerously) and right up until he passed at least one member of that family was by my brother's side every hour of every day because they truly loved him and cared for him in ways that are just astonishing to me. My Brother and the IRA man shared a great love for blues music and motorcycles and would go all over Ireland together to blues festivals where they forged their friendship.
I shall be forever grateful to that family they have gone out of their way to help our family, Jim even delivered a eulogy at my bruvs funeral and the wife of the IRA man sang The Isle of Inishfree during the service, it was truly moving and even up to this day we still keep in contact they have helped me out no end. Sadly Jim now has the dreaded cancer, life can be a s**t.
So Bigotry and hatred can be overcome. Peace and love to all.
