Swansea have American investors

Which means they are actual investors, not sugar daddies, who are more concerned about getting money out than putting it in. In fact, it was their arrival that pretty much coincided with Swansea's decline.

And we (and not just us by a long way!) have seen just how parachute payments tend to get swallowed up by the big Prem contracts of players you already have, a fair number of whom will:
a) not want to play in the Champs; or
b) be impossible to shift even if you don't really want them
