I agree, we should probably have signed a defender in the summer

but I think it's hard to argue that failing to do so is what relegated us, and that the recruitment in the summer was awful.

The squad had weaknesses for sure, but it was more than competitive until we tried to shoehorn in overpriced players who weren't good enough.
