A good point made in the comments in response to that Pinkun article is that

Maddison was not even a regular first team player 12 months ago. We had no guarantee that he would come through or indeed that he would become worth over £20m during the course of the season.

As such, our plans this summer should not be wholly reliant on being able to sell him or to put it another way if they are then that suggests that the financial planning by the board has not been good enough.

I therefore look forward to hearing from Stone/Webber that any injury to Maddison does not cause us an issue in terms of the overall strategy although clearly i would accept that being able to sell Madders for big money would give them far more flexibility and perhaps scope for a couple of extra signings.
