Whoever took over from lambert was going to find it hard.
Personally I think hughton did well to keep us up the first season post lambert.
Let’s be honest, Lambert left because he knew it was only a matter of time before this amazing run of success came to an end; the only thing that would have allowed us to maintain it was serious investment, which wasn’t and still isn’t realistic for us. Particularly at that point in time when we still had crippling debts.
To a degree hughton was a bit of a scapegoat, signing RvW didn’t help! But I think whoever took the role at that time would have been in the same position.
It’s worked out alright for him; he came out of it unscathed really. He can deny relegating us, when in reality he did.
