I think the problem is this...

They have been unlucky in a way to have to sell their star players but that's the approach they've taken, to reinvest that money again in young players eager to perhaps use Saints as a stepping stone.

And that's the main issue when the club is on a bad run, it's full of players who are more committed to proving themselves rather than grafting together as a team. They've done so well to replace those players effectively, but I guess it was almost inevitable that that wouldn't last forever. Now they need to fight, they only really have a team that believes they can get a move somewhere else in the summer if the worst happens
