Not for a long time anyway.
A lot of people in this country are so frothed up about immigrants (coming over here, nicking our jobs, loafing around on benefits in free council houses driving fancy cars we pay for etc etc etc ad infinitum) following a decades long campaign by the rabid elements among the press that they think this is fair, justified and proportionate.
A lot of people don't give a s**t therefore about this, or even actually applaud it. To them, harassing people to get the f**kers out and sent back to where they came from is bloody brilliant (even if where they come from is, in fact, Croydon, or Wallsall). This is a small price to pay for "taking back control of our borders".
I had a read of the comments on a Telegraph story the other day, and the general view is that Rudd and May are doing an absolutely splendid job and shouldn't be put off by bleeding heart lefties whining about the odd Windrush victim.
We love the myth that this country stands up for what's right, for freedom and fair play. But that is increasingly total bollocks.
Apologies for the rant - its not at anyone particular, but just released randomly out into the webosphere - this whole affair has disgusted me and highlighted the horrible slippery slope that we now seem to be on.
