It's all subjective. Android's latest update is also causing loads of s**t...

"update 8.1.0 drains battery by more than 50% on Pixel. What's going on? 100 to 10% in 8 hours stand by idle. Charging up to 100% with fast charge takes 3 hours."

"how do I revert to an older OS android 8.1.0 on nexus 6P is eating my battery like crazy! please fix!"

Some people will experience it and some not. Personally I have had no issue with the iPhone updates apart from that awful update last year which rendered it useless. Fixed it immediately but still. Am still using an iPhone 7 and it is fine.

Statistics show that the majority of Android users are still running two or three major versions old (has been that way for about 8 years) - that's often because their device cannot support the newer version, or due to huge problems in updates (remember the one which send SMS messages to the wrong people?!).

Whereas 65% of iOS users are on the latest version and fewer than 7% pre-iOS 10. It's not better or worse. It's just different models on how they think the technology and/or their business should work.

But good that you're happy with the Samsung. I never understood all this tribalism. I mean. It's two global consumer corporates. From a technical and security point of view I prefer iOS (sandboxing, married hardware/software, fits in well with my Macs which I also have come to prefer to Windows). But they all do the same f**king thing. Message, read and post pictures of food and pets on social media. Bit of banking. Oh, and maybe talk to someone occasionally. I've thought about going to Samsung or HTC for my next phone (since the Apple price hike last year) but I can't be arsed to have to reconfigure everything, buy apps again, etc. But that's the only reason.

But Apple users are sheep who pay money for a name and a getting hoodwinked by a corporate according to those who prefer to buy their device from another corporate which, until Q4 2017, had a greater market share let alone the same prices, and whose Vice President was in prison for bribery.

Wow. I don't know where all that came from.
