But that's the problem - there is no viable future for a lot of these kids

I wish it wasn't so, but it's just a fact. As a world we're charging headlong down a route where technology/AI/robotics is replacing humans with ever increasing frequency.

You can have all the outreach and social clubs you like, but for kids who are not bright or willing enough to deal with this future, and who've been brainwashed into expecting the good things in life nonetheless, gangs and drug dealing is the most natural step in the world.

I'm tough and I'm tooled up, nothing bad will happen to me...
