We spent, what, 8m? 9m on Naismith? Gave him 50K a week wages to boot. Then AFTER ONE MATCH, Neil panicked and ditched the very plan which led us to buy Naismith in the first place.
Eight or nine million quid plus 50K a week for three years... for one match?! And yes, that kind of thinking did land Neil in the commentary box - if not for long, admittedly.
Sure, Webber's criticism was harsh, and it's not something I or you would've done. But what he inherited when he was appointed was a total shambles, which required starting completely afresh.
