My guess is that playing in league two is worse preparation

than training with players of a much higher standard day in day out. Playing a whole season at league two isn't really great preparation for championship football. Instead the coaching staff can work on the player's weaknesses in training and hope to develop him until he reaches a the required basic standard.

The other possibility is that maybe he was brought back with the hope that we could loan him out at a higher level? I doubt that though.
