Experience is irrelevant if the player isn't good enough

whether it be down to technique, athleticism, intelligence or any combination of the three. Some of that is coachable, but if the player isn't anywhere near ready it could be damaging to their confidence. It would be like sticking a league two standard youth player in the team and hoping to play them until they come good. If he isn't far off and ends up playing for Norwich next season and does well then yes it will have been a baffling decision to not play him in any of the games as a starter at this point. I'm sure he could have his hand held by others in a more defensive back three set up, to get him up to speed.
