But not wholly convincing. When I read this sort of thing -
"It has been pointed out that the mural bears a passing resemblance to Nazi propaganda. I do see that, and I agree that it is unfortunate. But again there is a deafeningly-loud fallacy in the argument. Just because the mural has a resemblance to Nazi propaganda, it does not follow that it has to have the same meaning as Nazi propaganda"

I tend to think ..."unfortunate"? Really? It bears an "unfortunate" resemblance to Nazi propaganda? Hmm, yes, very unfortunate. And not a resemblance that anyone born more than about 25 minutes ago would easily miss. So I tend to think that the artist knew very well what he was doing, and what he was referring to, and how it would be perceived.
