You know how companies put on the bottom of their letters and emails that 'said company

is a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number ******* and with its registered office at relevant address'.

Is that some kind of legal requirement or are they just covering themselves for some purpose? So, if any of the information given was wrong, would there be any penalty?
