For me personally I never had full depression but I found that although I had been successful in my life, I had not been productive to society as a whole even after making a decent nestegg.

What I did was give my time (not just money) to various charity organizations.
Its purely selfish because it made me feel better about myself but at least it helps the greater good of society.
