Watch the replay of the on Peacock linked though - it's not as clear cut as it at first

appears!

It is a very sneaky foul by the defender who hooks his foot away. clearly preventing the ball he wanted to play when he wanted to play it. Somehow he clears his foot out of it and then realises the opportunity is gone, which is why he goes down so obviously.

But it IS a very clear and quite cynical foul which affects play in the penalty area! I don't know if you can do it by law by if you can, I would award the penalty, give a yellow card to the defender for the professional foul BUT ALSO give a yellow to the attacker for clear simulation AFTER the initial foul.

Looking at it again, the defender even tries to flick up his right foot before sweeping in hope with his left.

It's more than Beckham got sent off for against Simeone.
